Roco 10836 Z21 Digital Switching Decoder - for Points, lighting & signals
For total DCC control of your layout, the Z21 switch DECODER is an excellent option.
It is an easy to install and very capable DCC switching unit with a power output of 2 Amperes. You can control up to 8 turnouts or up to 16 elements such as LEDs lights, signals etc.
Simple connection:
Install the unit under your layout bench and run up to 8 separate Roco Point (Turnout) motors wires to it. Screw terminals are provided so no soldering is necessary. For most usage run 2 wires from your DCC Track feed wiring to the two input terminals. If you are running very heavy loads, you can connect the two input wires to a separate DC supply so that the control centre or booster outputs are not placed under unnecessary load. The outputs of the unit are protected against overload and short-circuits. Allocate a number to each of the Point motors you have connected, and now you can programme each of these into your DCC hand control unit. Its just like controlling a DCC Loco, through the Rail power supply!
Adjustable outputs:
Each of the 8 output pairs can be set to different modes independently of the other. These are already pre-configured and can simply be selected. Each output pair can also be individually dimmed so that lighting can be adapted precisely to requirements.
It can control:
- Standard Twin coil solenoid motors such as Roco, Fleishmann and standard European turnout drives. Also Gaugemaster Seep PM1& PM4 Point motors by wiring the Z21 Digital Decoder directly to an external power supply, not the track feed (For PM1 & PM4 set pulse times to 100-200ms)
- Lighting - LED's, Bulbs
- Signals
- Relays
Not recommended for Solenoid motors with high peak current requirements, such as Peco, nor Slow motion/Stall motors such as Tortoise or Cobalt classic.
