Returns & Warranty Information

We stand by our products. If your item arrives damaged or develops a fault due to a manufacturing defect, we are here to help.

Damaged items:  Please contact us straight away if you receive a damaged item, as courier companies only accept damage claims if reported immediately.

Change of mind:  If you decide to change your mind, please note that returns are subject to our discretion and may incur a 20% handling and restocking fee. The original freight charges are non-refundable. Change of mind returns will be considered within 14 days of delivery, provided:

  • The item is returned in brand-new, resaleable condition and is unused
  • The item is returned in the original packaging, unopened and undamaged.
  • You supply proof of purchase.

Warranty: Our products include the manufacturer's warranty. Typically, this is a 12-month, 24-month, or lifetime warranty. The details of the warranty will be included with the product. Warranty covers faulty workmanship or materials and does not cover:

  • Misuse, accidental damage, neglect or improper maintenance.
  • Modifications or alterations to the product.   
  • Use of the products outside its intended purpose. 
  • Commercial use.

To request to return an item, please contact us at info@modeltrainsdirect.co.nz and include your  order/invoice number, phone number and reason for return.  We will give you instructions on  how to return the items.  It may be necessary to provide photos or a video of the issue. Return freight is the buyers responsibility.
